YELLOW CANNA

YELLOW CANNA

I picked up a yellow canna that was just a few leaves at Agway about two or three weeks ago. I filled a pot with good dirt, and planted it. I honestly did not expect much, but it bloomed today, and I am delighted! Also, my autumn joy sedum is blooming and I saw the cutest bee on it with tons of pollen on him or her. So just a few pictures for today.
Also, after my little bout with pneumonia, I have decided to give up one of my vegetable plots. I’m giving up my big plot, and I’m feeling pretty good about that decision. As much as I would like to think that I am superhuman, I am not. I am a 77 year old tiny person and can only do so much. I have found in my life that giving things up, though often a difficult decision, usually improves the quality of my life. I feel that this decision will do that. I still have a vegetable plot here in town, and will make the most of it. I must have at least one vegetable plot so I can grow my garlic and my tomatoes.

SEPTEMBER! Enchanted garden

I am very excited this September. For the past seven years I have been working on creating a wild flower enchanted garden in my wooded area in the backyard. This year it is really starting to look the way I was envisioning it. Much of the reason for this is the removal of my oak tree which shaded the entire backyard. Enclosed are some pictures of the removal of the oak, the resulting flowers on my rose of Sharon, and an arrangement that I made with many wildflowers and odds and ends.

Only a pile of wood chips left where my old old oak tree was.

Rose of Sharon blooming better than ever now that it get some sun!

September arrangement with coleus, white snake root, grass, Perennial sunflower, pink heirloom rose, apricot heirloom rose, white wild Asters, Black-eyed Susans, golden rod, blanket flower, and Rose Campion.
